I haven't watched it since! But truth be told I am pretty sure I liked it for the same reason I liked a similar episode of Super Milk Chan, which is that
it reminded me of a specific episode of THE YOUNG ONES that I love a lot. Like it had similar beats and timing that just resonated with me on that base level
even though the jokes they used were weren't as good. But I knew my review would be different than yours because I'd be coming from the place of at
least formally liking it when you never did.

39 - Neptunati - This is the last Sealab I ever saw!!!!! Well except for the last episode. But besides that, everything after this is new to me! Soooooooooooo........ this episode stinks. The drawing of the Neptunati cult leader looks like fanart from a 13-year-old's deviantart. There's a long drawn out scene with Hesh getting hurt by stuff that I forgot about that made me go "I remember hating that!" There's a part where the crew watches a fight that is happening off screen and then Quinn goes "anyone who didn't see that should go kill themselves!" and I did a legit Eye Roll. There's a drawing of an anime that's uglier than actual anime is. And there's the Five Jew Bankers stuff, which reeks so hard of an idea they had since season one but (smartly) never used but are using now because they don't give a shit anymore. It boggles my mind that there are 13 more episodes made after this, I sure hope I don't end up thinking they're not that bad ;_; Akira - "Most overrated film of all time. Oh I hope Sealab season 4 is bad, I can't take another disappointment of not-that-bad-ness.
40 - Isla de Chupacabra - Lordy, lordy is this thing ugly. The Sealab crew gets out of Sealab for the first time (this COULD be a sign that they are completely bored writing for the show and should have given up on it by this point, but I can't say for sure). They do not do anything that couldn't be done on Sealab, and they stand in front of the same badly-drawn background for the whole entire episode. This episode is remarkably joke-less, there's really not a whole lot that feels like it was even supposed to be funny. Basically every "joke" is someone getting shot or killed or maimed or hurt in some way. There's also some insanely ugly shit in this episode. Some stuff looks like it was straight up animated in MS Paint. It's probably the worst looking animation I've ever seen on television, counting things that are animated bad on purpose because the joke is that they look bad. I hated this episode. Just... hated it. I couldn't be happier. P.S. Adam Reed was not among the (six) credited writers of this episode, was I wrong about him being the shit factor behind Sealab? No. I was not. 41 - Joy of Grief - So, according to my favorite website wikipedia, "According to Adult Swim on November 22,
2007 Matt Thompson states that this was the worst Sealab episode." I read that, but I knew better than to get my hopes too high. If anything, I figured
that it had a closer chance of being the BEST episode ever than being worse than the shit they've made so far.
Then I watched it. HOLY shit, this thing is a fucking tragedy. I have to give Matt Thompson props, he may be capable of producing abysmal shit but at least he absolutely recognizes abysmal shit when he sees it. The worst Sealab episode ever made before this one (that would be the episode before this one) comes close to bordering on passable compared to this one. What happens is, Marco dies, and a grief counselor named JOY starts to... ready for the twist?... (badadadada *drumroll noise*) MURDER everyone on Sealab! WOAH! I am at a complete loss for words about this episode. I think I'm going to have to cut this write up short, because if I try to make fun of this episode I'll just start saying that it's the worse thing that's ever been on Adult Swim, worse than any Minoriteam or Robot Chicken or Assy McGee, and the problem is, that's not really going far enough. Man, I've figured it out, this episode actually disappointed me. At THIS STAGE, I'm actually disappointed in Sealab. Akira - "Most overrated film of all time. 42 - Green Fever - Debbie celebrates her birthday. A zombie outbreak occurs on Sealab. Don Kennedy guest stars as a scathing satire of this
country's politicians. Multiple unfunny, soulless pop culture references occur. Needless to say, this sucked. But after that last fucking episode this
might as well have been a Space Ghost marathon with 1994-era Cartoon Network commercials followed by brand new PFFR material. No way in hell am I going to have
anywhere near an objective opinion on this episode in my lifetime, so I'm not even going to try, if that's ok with you.
I have a specific memory about this episode, despite never having seen it before. I remember Bobo Adobo posting about an episode featuring a zombie outbreak and a scene involving discussion of pipes. This is that episode! Specifically, I remember Bobo saying that if they set up the zombie plot, then cut to the pipe scene and made the rest of the episode be pipe discussion, it would have been one of the best Sealabs ever. Now I know what he was talking about. There's some closure for ya! Facts is this wouldn't have been one of the best Sealabs ever, really it's just completely beyond them to produce anything better than the first episodes at this point, but this episode is less offensively ugly than most Sealabs of this time. Again, I'm looking at this episode through the rose-coloredest-ass glasses of all time so I better shut up before I say something I regret. Akira - "Most overrated film of all time. 43 - Sharko's Machine - Man Sharko is the worst. Did he really become a regular character this season? He was in the fucking Joy of Grief
for a little while, and in the fucking horrible Anime Talk Show, and in the last episode of Sealab in which he also sucked. Sharko sucks is what I'm
saying. Tornado Shanks is a horrible character but Sharko is just the absolute worst.
I hated this episode a lot. They decide that Debbie for this episode is someone who takes up charity causes and then drops them, basically turning her into a Lindsay Bluth ripoff (is this a bullshit thing to call 7030 out on? Yeah it pretty much is, you know what, it is). So she makes Sharko take a test so that Sealab will hire him. Something like that. I think they explain it better in the episode, but I don't care. Mostly it involved a lot of offensive unfunny racist jokes about being half-shark is like being a minority. There was a training montage full of non-sequitirs that I probably could have found funny if I wanted, but even their training montage parody felt soulless (it has a Pitfall parody, previously done by Homestar Runner and South Park). Oh and Matt Chapman from Homestarrunner.com does a song for this episode, that sure was nice of him. Overall I'd have to say I just really hated this episode! 44 - Return of Marco - Hey Marco comes back in this episode! Even though he died in the fucking Joy of Grief, this episode made me notice he
hasn't actually been on the show in like a long while. Good for Erik Estrada, he was smart to quit this shit while he was ahead (relatively to the rest of
the cast, I mean). But he comes back in this episode. This episode is about a D on the Regular Things scale which makes it a resounding success by Season Four
Sealab scale. Marco tells everyone the story of what he's been doing for the past six months since he disappeared. Wouldn't you know, it involves a
whole bunch of wacky, self-consciously random shit happening! There's a running bit in this episode about a British turtle that's kind of ok, I guess,
which is about as good as Sealab is going to get anymore.
The ending of this episode is great!!! Marco and Debbie sing Aguas de Marco. I remember this being used as a promo. I'm not sure if they made it for the episode first and then isolated the clip a promo or if they made it as a promo first and then used it in the episode, but I'd guess the latter because this is very clearly tacked on to the end of the episode to fill time. Either way, it's fantastic! Easily the highlight of the episode or season or past couple seasons pretty much. Even though he's not credited I'm fairly certain that this was done by Eric Fensler of Fensler Films (and T&E) fame. It's great because it's 100% recycled Hanna-Barbera animation and 0% 7030 ugly-mation. It made me realize that Sealab season four could have been great if they just farmed out every part of every episode to people with actual talent like Fensler and Matt Chapman. 45 - Casinko - Hey this sucks!!! Just as things could only go up from the fucking Joy of Grief, things could only go down from Aguas de Marco.
Sealab does an Indian casino episode. What a great idea that has never been done by Family Guy before!!!! Man I'm calling 7030 out on a lot of bullshit things, but I think they're all pretty valid. Ripping off Homestar Runner's Pitfall Parody ---> Matt Chapman was involved in that episode. Making Debbie into a Lindsay Bluth parody ---> huge Arrested Development influence on Frisky Dingo. Doing an Indian casino episode like Family Guy ---> Family Guy is a quite large thing on Adult Swim. In each situation I really can't give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a coincidence. These guys are probably plagiarists, and they are horrible. Actually I remember when I first heard that Sealab did an Indian casino episode it immediately struck me as a Family Guy ripoff. Since then, lots of things have done things about Indian casinos. So I probably wouldn't think that today. I'm really not sure where I'm going right now, let's move on. This episode is made entirely of bad, unfunny jokes! Who would have guessed? Me; I would have guessed that, and I did guess that. Two things I can remember: a musical number about Sealab being self-aware about how bad their racist jokes are (very unfunny) and pictures of the 7030 crew's ugly faces in the credits. Yuck! That self-aware musical number in that episode might seriously be the nadir of Sealab. When I was watching through these semi-recently I figured I was in for a
lot of self-aware shit but that musical number was verging on self-parody. By that I mean self-parody of Sealab's self-awareness. 70/30 actually sucked
their own dicks hard enough that it became paradoxical.

46 - Butchslap - Wow this sucked!!! Sealab trots out all of the racist, sexist and religious jokes they can, but it's all too boring to be
offensive. mcheshpants420 got the writing credit for this episode, proving that they didn't care, so why should I? Fuck yourself Adam Reed.

Well, I thought it was funny.
47 - Monkey Banana Raffle - Congratulations to the 14 year old girl who came up with the title for this episode. This episode is Sealab trying their depressingly hardest to be Robot Chicken. According to wikipedia, this episode aired a month (to the day) after Robot Chicken premiered, but come on, look at this shit, I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt that it takes more than a month to write and make an episode. It's about an eccentric billionaire who buys Sealab. Wikipedia would have you believe that it's a parody of Richard Branson, but it's more like a parody of Seinfeld's parody of Johnnie Cochran. He says wacky things in a wacky voice as wacky things happen and man this show is seriously so much worse than Birdman. The 7030 d-bags once again put their diseased mutant faces in the credits. I h8 it! The drawing of Jay Edwards from the The episode of ATHF shows up and that was the highlight of the episode because it wasn't a drawing of an ugly 7030 crew member. Adult Swim creators should NOT put their faces on television, just look at Jon Glaser he's got the right idea (KIDDING he's a handsome gentleman!). Akira - "Most overrated film of all time. 48 - Shrabster - Whoop de gayness, a backwards episode. Sealab's way of saying "we want to do a gimmick episode, but we've given
up." So, take an uninspired episode and uninspiredly run it backwards. If nothing else watching these last Sealabs is making me feel pretty good about not
hating Birdman. Everything I hated about Birdman, Sealab does infinity times worse. It's hard to consider Birdman "bad" in the presence of this
garbage. Birdman at its most obnoxiously trying-too-hard-to-be-funny/random is succeeding-at-being-funny/random-in-spades compared to this. I assume they made
this episode and realized it was boring and gay and THEN made it backwards because in between every scene there is a narrator that is a parody of the narrator
from Superfriends who says "EARLIER" as well as saying "wacky" non-sequitirs and self-aware shit about how much this episode sucks which it
does. Oh yeah also Dave Willis is in this, come on have some dignity bro.
I might be remembering wrong but I kind of remember hearing about this episode and that consensus was that it was "good" and/or a "return to form." Either people are very amused by dopey gimmicks, or I am remembering completely wrong, possibly remembering something about a completely different show. And I'm leaning towards the latter.
